The Environmental Affairs Board (EAB) was established in 1991, in recognition of the importance of local cooperation on environmental issues. This is an advisory board of appointed volunteer citizens to provide the City and County with expert and comprehensive advice on various environmental matters. It is also a mechanism for facilitating communication between the public and local government leaders.
The board considers topics such as watershed protection, natural resource protection, air quality, environmental impacts of industrial development, environmental education, green building design, energy conservation, and global climate change. The EAB typically meets on the first Wednesday of every month at 6 p.m. in the Committee Room on the second floor of City Hall.
The board consists of 18 members, eight of which are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners, including one youth member (age 15-22). Members represent the following vocations or professions: air resources, air quality, engineering, education/communications, public health and/or public policy. Members serve without compensation and must live within the County (or jurisdiction that appoints them). City and County taxes must not reflect any delinquency at the time of submission of the application.
