The City-County Building & Safety Department provides permit, plan review, and inspection services for the City and County of Durham. These services ensure the health, safety, and welfare of the public through administration and enforcement of the North Carolina State Building Code and the zoning ordinances for both the City and County.

Online Scheduling of Inspections

To schedule a building, electrical, plumbing, or standard mechanical inspection, use the online service tools in the Land Development Office (LDO) portal. 

Remember you must be the permit applicant and have your login credentials to schedule an inspection for your permit.

If you have limited internet access, our customer service lobby is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, and we have computers you can use to schedule your inspections. The lobby is located on the Ground Floor of City Hall at 101 City Hall Plaza.
