Bivalent vaccines for all mRNA COVID-19 vaccine doses, second bivalent dose for eligible groups available at Durham County Department of Public Health beginning April 26

Post Date:04/25/2023 10:59 AM
Beginning Wednesday, April 26, in line with updated FDA guidance, the Durham County Department of Public Health (DCoDPH) will begin offering updated (bivalent) Pfizer and Moderna vaccines for all mRNA vaccine doses for all people age six months or older. Monovalent Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are no longer authorized for use, as the bivalent vaccine offers greater protection against COVID-19 variants.

Additionally, individuals who are immunocompromised or age 65 or older will now be eligible for a second bivalent dose. People age 65 or older may receive a second bivalent dose at least four months after their first bivalent dose. Individuals with a compromised immune system may receive a second bivalent dose at least two months after their first bivalent dose, at the discretion of their healthcare provider.

All vaccinations at the DCoDPH COVID-19 vaccination clinic continue to be available for free. The vaccination clinic is located at 414 E. Main St, Durham, NC, 27701, open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 9:00AM-4:00PM, closed daily 12:00PM-1:00PM. All vaccinations are provided by walk-in.
