Durham, NC – Each year the Transit Staff Working Group (SWG) develops an annual Work Program including a budget for the upcoming fiscal year as part of the appropriations process for the Durham County Transit Plan. A Draft version of the FY24 Durham County Transit Work Program is now available for public feedback.
The Work Program includes information on new services such as GoDurham’ s ACCESS Paratransit Study and accessibility improvements at bus stops along the GoTriangle 805 Corridor in addition to continued funding for current services to allow for more stops on existing routes. Also included in the Work Program is the Bus Speed and Reliability Study that will identify potential corridors for Bus Rapid Transit (BRT).
“Durham County is excited that the draft FY24 Work Program is proposed to fund a Bus Speed and Reliability Study that will include a county-wide identification of opportunities to implement Bus Rapid Transit and the infrastructure needed to ensure fast, reliable bus service in Durham and regional connections,” said Durham Board of County Commissioners Chair Brenda Howerton. “This work continues to be a strong investment in our residents’ highest priorities and advances the vision of new Draft Durham County Transit Plan.”
