Durham, N.C. – Alan A. Andrews was officially sworn in as the new Durham County Attorney at the Board of County Commissioners January work session on Tuesday, January 3 at 9 a.m.  Chief District Judge Clayton Jones administered the oath. Attorney Andrews was also joined at the meeting by his wife, Attorney Lynne Fuller-Andrews, and their son Evan, along with a host of family, friends, and supporters.

Following the brief ceremony, Attorney Andrews thanked the Board for the “opportunity and great honor” to have been selected as Durham County Attorney.  He added that he “looks forward to working with the Board of Commissioners in doing the good work that is required by the people of Durham… Together we will be able to accomplish great things for the people.”

Prior to joining Durham County, Attorney Andrews served as Chief Deputy City Attorney in Greensboro, NC. He brings to this new position considerable experience working in local government including positions as deputy city attorney, assistant city attorney and police attorney in High Point, NC. Attorney Andrews has also served at the NC General Assembly as staff attorney and served as an assistant attorney in the City of Charlotte, NC.

Attorney Andrews is a graduate of Howard University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts, Political Science/English, and a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he received his Juris Doctorate.

Additionally, Attorney Andrews is a veteran having served as a Captain in the U.S. Army JAG Corps.
