Durham, N.C. – Durham County Government will close most offices for the Good Friday holiday on Friday, April 18, 2014. All offices will reopen with normal hours of operation on Monday, April 21st.
Durham County Convenience Centers:
The Durham County General Services Department will close all four of its solid waste and recycling convenience sites on April 18th. Durham County residents with a current 2014 solid waste decal can resume disposal of garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulky items at the County’s convenience sites on April 19th, beginning at 7 a.m.
The Durham County roadside recycling schedule for customers on Schedule A, normally serviced the week of April 14th will maintain the same schedule. All residents are reminded to set out their recycling bins before 7 a.m., on the day of pickup, to avoid a missed collection.

Durham County Library:
All Durham County Library locations will be closed on Friday, April 18th through Sunday, April 20th All locations will reopen with regular hours on Monday, April 21st.

Durham County Public Health:
The Durham County Department of Public Health will follow the Durham County Government Good Friday Day closing schedule.
For Public Health emergencies during the holiday closure, including communicable disease reporting, environmental health and suspected foodborne illnesses, please call 911 and ask for the Durham County Department of Public Health’s response team member on-call.

Durham County Social Services:
On April 18th the Durham County Department of Social Services (DSS) will close its offices. Residents are encouraged to call 911 to reach an on-call social worker to report child abuse and neglect or adult abuse and neglect. On April 21st, DSS will reopen and operate according to its normal hours of operation.
