Durham, NC (Sunday, July 17, 2022) - The Durham County Sheriff's Office is conducting a homicide investigation today, Sunday, July 17.  
 
Just after 2:30 a.m., Durham Police responded to a shooting on I-885 north near Ellis Rd. After conducting a preliminary investigation it was determined that the incident occurred outside of the city limits and investigators from DCSO were contacted.  
 
Preliminary investigation reveals that as the victim and a passenger traveled on I-885, they were approached by at least one other vehicle and fired on. The driver died at the scene. The passenger was not injured.  
 
The deceased has been identified as Jamarr Parker, 31, of Durham.  The identity of the passenger is not being released.
