(DURHAM - April 8, 2022) On Tuesday night, a deputy from the patrol division’s D Squad was in the area of the 300 block Avon Lake Dr when they recognized a vehicle of the same make and model of one that had recently been listed as stolen in the City of Durham. After checking the tag number, he identified it as the stolen SUV. In checking the tags of other cars in the area, an additional car was identified as having been stolen in the City of Raleigh. Both cars were towed to a secure location before being returned to their owners. No suspects have been identified at this time.
When A Squad came on the next evening, deputies observed a vehicle circulating in the area of a construction site on Ellis Rd. The occupants inside were observed to be wearing ski masks. A traffic stop was made after the driver ran a stoplight a short distance away. During the stop, construction material that had just been stolen from the site was found in the vehicle. The materials were recovered, and charges are pending.
