The Durham County Department of Public Health (DCoDPH) is now providing booster doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccinations to those who are eligible. Individuals eligible for booster vaccines are people who received both doses of the Pfizer vaccine at least six months ago and one of the following:
- You are 65 or older.
- You are 18 and older and:
- You live or work in a nursing home or other long-term care residential facility.
- You have a medical condition that puts you at high risk for severe illness, for example obesity, asthma, heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes.
- You work in a high-risk profession, meaning you come into contact with a lot of people, and you don’t know their vaccination status, for example, health care workers, first responders, teachers, food processing workers, retail and restaurant workers, and public transportation workers.
- You live or work in a place where many people live together, for example, homeless shelters, correctional facilities, migrant farm housing, dormitories or other group living settings in colleges or universities.
To receive a booster vaccination, eligible individuals may call 919-560-9217 to schedule an appointment, or visit the DCoDPH vaccination clinic at 414 E. Main St., Durham, NC 27701 during walk-in hours Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 9:00AM-4:00PM, and Tuesdays, 9:00AM-6:00PM. This clinic is closed Fridays-Sundays.
Individuals seeking to receive a booster vaccination must bring their vaccination card indicating that they have received two doses of a Pfizer vaccination at least six months ago.
DCoDPH also continues to provide first and second dose vaccinations for all people 12 and older, as well as
third dose Moderna and Pfizer vaccinations for people who are
moderately to severely immunocompromised. These third dose vaccinations are available 28 days following the second dose of a Moderna or Pfizer vaccination. No additional doses or booster vaccinations are currently approved for individuals who received a Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
