Lee Worsley Named Interim County Manager

Durham, NC – At its Monday, January 27, 2014, meeting, the Durham Board of County Commissioners selected Lee Worsley as interim county manager, effective February 1st. Longtime County Manager Mike Ruffin retires January 31st.

“I am deeply honored to have been appointed interim county manager for Durham County,” said Worsley on his appointment. “I want to thank the Board of County Commissioners for showing their confidence in me by making this appointment and I am extremely excited about having the opportunity to work with our outstanding County employees in this new role. Durham County employees are the heart and soul of this organization, they work hard every day to provide valuable services to our community and it is humbling to be able to work with them as their Interim County Manager.”

Worsley has been deputy county manager since 2011. He was previously assistant county manager in Catawba County for six years. Prior to that, he served three years as the county manager in Greene County. He also spent time as an assistant to the city manager in Goldsboro. Worsley earned his undergraduate degree in political science from Appalachian State University, and his Masters of Public Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
