County Food Drive Aims to Restock Local Pantries
Convenient Collection Sites are Open During Drive for Public Participation

Durham, NC – For many, the holiday season includes back-to-back occasions to eat and celebrate, however, for some this season is not so joyous because they will be among the hungry or lacking enough to feed their families. This week, marks the kickoff of a Food Drive led by Durham County Government during the holiday season aimed at restocking food pantries in Durham and helping to fight hunger during the holiday season. The drive, held in conjunction with the Feeding Durham initiative with the Durham Rotary Clubs, will end on December 30, 2013.
County employees, as well as the public, are invited to participate in the Food Drive and can drop off their donations to any of the eight drop-off locations:
• Durham County Health Human Services Building (Main Lobby)

• Durham County Administration Building (First Floor Lobby)
200 East Main Street, Durham, NC 27701
• Durham County Cooperative Extension
721 Foster St., Durham, NC 27701
• Main Library - 300 N. Roxboro Street, ?Durham, NC 27701
• East Regional Library- 211 Lick Creek Lane? Durham, NC 27703
• North Regional Library - 221 Milton Road? Durham, NC 27712
• South Regional Library- 4505 S. Alston Road?Durham, NC 27713
• Southwest Regional Library - 3605 Shannon Road?Durham, NC 27707
All canned food and non-perishable items are accepted at the collection locations. The County has set a goal to collect at least 2000 pounds of items that will be distributed the local Food Bank
