SHERIFF’S CIVIL PROCESS STATUS NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE

Durham, N.C., Nov. 21, 2013—Durham County Sheriff Mike Andrews is pleased to announce the launch of a new feature on the Sheriff’s Office website that is expected to improve customer service and increase work efficiency.
The new website feature called “Civil Paper Lookup” allows citizens to view the status of civil process paperwork dating back to one year from the date of issuance. Several search options, such as name, docket number, and date of issuance, are available to allow the user to quickly filter search results and locate the specific desired record.
“My office in 2012 received more than 40,000 civil process papers that needed to be served,” Sheriff Mike Andrews said. “The people who file those papers often call us to check on whether or not the paper has been served—and we’re happy to assist them—but when clerks are kept busy most of the day answering inquiries, it takes time away from their numerous other responsibilities. It is my hope that the new online search function will not only better serve Durham County residents, but also allow my office to operate more efficiently.”
The new search function is available by going to the Durham County Sheriff’s Office website and clicking on the link titled Civil Paper Lookup.
