County Engineering Hosts Public Meeting on Demolition and Redevelopment of Former DSS Building

Facts:
• The demolition of the Durham County Department of Social Services Main Street facility was included in the Durham County Space Needs Analysis and Master Plan, adopted by the Durham Board of County Commissioners in March 2000 and updated in March 2003, as part of the construction of the Human Services facility. Durham County Engineering Department is now seeking public input on the redevelopment of the site as a Civic Plaza, a redesigned space for utilization by all residents.
• The Durham County Engineering and Environmental Services Department invites the public to make comment on the demolition and redevelopment project on November 12, 2013, at the DSS Main Street Demolition/ Civic Plaza Redevelopment Project Stakeholder Meeting, located in the new Human Services facility, 414 E. Main Street. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in Countywide Meeting Room A.
• Durham County will use the insight provided from the meeting to help shape final plans for the project.
