Durham County Recycling Ambassadors Honored with Spotlight Award by the Carolina Recycling Association

Durham, NC – The Durham County Recycling Ambassadors Program was honored with a Spotlight Award by the Carolina Recycling Association during its annual conference and trade show on April 10th in Myrtle Beach, SC.
The Spotlight Award recognizes an event, item, or program that promotes and encourages waste reduction and recycling.
The Durham County Recycling Ambassadors program was implemented in 2012. The program uses local Ruritan Clubs to promote recycling in their county, as well as, act as information hubs for solid waste issues and resources.
Each Recycling Ambassador attends a 2 hour training session and is provided with a recycled content binder full of resources and information, a recycled plastic bottle t-shirt, a compost bin, and assorted recycled content materials to use as handouts for their community. Each Club also receives three event recycling container and a litter clean up kit to be loaned out to groups or individuals in their respective communities.
The Carolina Recycling Association is a non-profit organization serving the public and private recycling industry in order to advance waste reduction and recycling in North and South Carolina.
