Holidays are a season of giving and receiving for the Welcome Baby Program, operated by the Durham County Cooperative Extension.
The program is now accepting donations for its 5th Annual Welcome Baby Coat Drive, created to keep children in Durham warm.
The 2016 coat drive began on Monday, November 28th and will end on Saturday, December 31st.
Coats are needed for children sizes newborn -7/8years.
Drop off locations include:
Durham County Cooperative Extension: 712 Foster Street
Durham County Main Library: 300 N. Roxboro Street
South Regional Library 4505 S. Alston Ave
North Regional Library 221 Milton Road
Southwest Regional Library 3605 Shannon Road

King’s Park International Church
Welcome Baby distributes the coats through the Giving Closet; open to all Durham families with children 0-6years old.
According to Welcome Baby Community Services Consultant Patience Mukelabai, “the support received by the community in the past years has enabled us to continue with this annual drive that started out as a Diaper and Coat drive and helped give birth the idea of the Diaper Bank of NC.”
The program, and current drive, provides giving and support for families in need regardless of socio-economic status.
