Durham, N.C. – Durham County Government will close most offices for the Veterans Day holiday on Friday, November 11, 2016. All offices will reopen with normal hours of operation on Monday, November 14th.
Durham County Convenience Centers:
The Durham County General Services Department will close all four of its solid waste and recycling convenience sites on November 11th. Durham County residents with a current 2016-2017 solid waste decal can resume disposal of garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulky items at the County’s convenience sites on November 12th, beginning at 7 a.m.
The Durham County roadside recycling schedule for customers on Schedule A, normally serviced the week of November 7th will maintain the same schedule. All residents are reminded to set out their recycling bins before 7 a.m. on the day of pickup, to avoid a missed collection.

Durham County Library:
All Durham County Library locations will be closed on Friday, November 11th. All locations will reopen with regular hours on Saturday, November 12th.

Durham County Public Health:
The Durham County Department of Public Health will follow the Durham County Government Veterans Day holiday closing schedule.
For Public Health emergencies during the holiday closure, including communicable disease reporting, environmental health and suspected foodborne illnesses, please call 911 and ask for the Durham County Department of Public Health’s response team member on-call.

Durham County Social Services:
On November 11th, the Durham County Department of Social Services (DSS) will close its offices for the Veterans Day Holiday. Residents are encouraged to call 911 to reach an on-call social worker to report child abuse and neglect or adult abuse and neglect. On November 14th, DSS will reopen and operate according to its normal hours of operation.
