DCoDPH to Offer Support Group for Former Smokers

Stay Quit support group to assure success of former smokers

DURHAM, N.C. – The Durham County Department of Public Health (DCoDPH) will offer a new support group for former tobacco smokers called Stay Quit.  Beginning Thursday, October 6 at 5:30PM-6:30PM, Stay Quit will be held on the first Thursday of the month in the 1st floor board room of the Durham County Human Services Building, 414 E. Main Street.

“We have programs to help people kick the habit of smoking, but what about those who need ongoing support?” said Natalie Rich, tobacco health education specialist, DCoDPH.  “Stay Quit is designed to assist these people maintain a smoke-free lifestyle.  Most smokers who quit often relapse within the first year.  We want to make sure people who have quit get the support they need.”

The Stay Quit support group is free and open to the public.  Attendees will connect with other former smokers and learn how to overcome the triggers that make them want to smoke.  Registration at tinyurl.com/durhamstayquit.
