JOINT INVESTIGATION LEADS TO ARREST OF SERIAL BREAK-IN SUSPECTS
Durham, N.C., Nov 28, 2012—Two men wanted in connection with a string of home break-ins in Durham and Granville counties were recently arrested following a weeks-long investigation by Durham and Granville County sheriff’s investigators.

Arrest warrants for Brandon Keith Autrey, 25, of 3115 Tar River Rd, Oxford, and Curtis Leroy White, 33, of 1568 Little Pond Rd, Stem, were issued Nov. 15 and the two were arrested by Granville County sheriff’s deputies Nov. 20. Durham County investigators have charged both White and Autrey with three counts of felony breaking and entering and two counts of felony larceny after breaking and entering. White and Autrey are being held in the Granville County Jail under a $310,000 and $320,000 bond, respectively. The two men also face additional similar charges in Granville County.

Durham County sheriff’s investigators say Autrey and White are responsible for three home break-ins that occurred Nov. 10 in the 5300 block of Redmill Road, the 4000 block of Intermere Road and the 3000 block of Tom Clark Road in northeast Durham County. Investigators are also working to bring additional charges against the men for break-ins that occurred in the 5100 block of Glenn Road and the 2000 block Bundy Avenue earlier this month.

“We caught a break in the investigation when Autrey and White broke into a house that was equipped with security cameras,” Sheriff’s Det. Jon Helsius said. “We were able to use the surveillance footage to positively identify the two men and the vehicle they were driving at the time. I’ve learned that criminals generally avoid breaking into houses with security cameras—probably for the reason it makes them easy to identify and apprehend after the fact,” he added.
