Post Date:03/31/2025 10:43 AM

Durham, NC – Durham County (DCo) Government will celebrate National County Government Month (NCGM) during the month of April to showcase how the county supports residents and builds healthy, safe, and vibrant communities.

During NCGM 2025, DCo leaders and staff will highlight county innovations and resources offered through its many programs and services. The National Association of Counties (NACo) encourages counties nationwide to focus on championing the workforce, boosting civic engagement, and raising public awareness of the important role of county government in everyone’s daily lives.

Throughout the month, Durham County employees will have the opportunity to take tours, attend lunch and learn sessions, participate in volunteer week, and celebrate 1881 Day on April 17, recognizing the significance of the founding date of Durham County Government. In addition, DCo will share online resources with the public and invite residents to learn more about the organization by visiting county buildings and facilities.  The State of the County Address to be delivered by Chair Nida Allam during the Board of County Commissioners Regular Session scheduled Monday, April 28. Employees and the public are encouraged to attend. Anyone who wishes to view the BOCC session can watch it live on Durham Television Network (DTN) as well as the Durham County website and the County’s YouTube channel.

“Durham County Government is proud to serve you, the residents of Durham County,” says Durham County Manager Claudia Hager. “But we don’t just work here. We live here. You see us every day at our offices downtown, at library locations, convenience sites, and out in the community. But you’ll also see us in the grocery store, the gas station, our local parks, at school PTA meetings, and inside Durham Bulls Athletic Park watching a ballgame or at Pinhook catching a punk rock show.”
