Durham, N.C. – Durham County Government will delay opening operations until 11 a.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025, due to the continued impacts of this week’s winter weather on the Triangle’s roadways, especially in residential neighborhoods. The delayed opening will allow for hazardous road conditions to lessen for employees and residents using our services.
Durham County Library locations will open at 11:30 a.m. For more information on library programs and services, visit DurhamCountyLibrary.org.
There will be no recycling collection services for residents of unincorporated Durham County on Friday, Feb. 21. Roads must be cleared and safe before collections can begin. Thursday’s recycling will be picked up on Saturday, Feb. 22, road conditions permitting. Friday’s recycling will be picked up next Wednesday, Feb. 26.
Durham County’s three Convenience Sites will be closed on Friday, Feb. 21, reopening with normal hours on Saturday, Feb. 22.

Welcome Baby’s Giving Closet has cancelled all appointments for Friday, Feb. 21. Staff are reaching out to those with appointments via text to reschedule. If you need to contact Welcome Baby staff, call 919-560-7150.
Everyone should use good judgement when driving on roadways that may have patches of ice. All employees should contact their supervisor if you have any questions regarding the delayed schedule.

Durham County Courts Schedule for Feb. 21
Due to continued impacts from the inclement weather, the Durham County Courts (District, Traffic, Family, Domestic Violence) will open at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 21, while the Durham County Clerk of Court Offices will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Small claims sessions have been cancelled.
