Durham, N.C. – In recognition of Durham Refugee Day, Durham residents are invited to celebrate this important day on Saturday, July 8, 2023, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The event honoring the courage, strength, and determination of refugees will be held at Durham Central Park, 501 Foster Street.
Durham Refugee Day is a community-wide event that celebrates the contributions and cultures of our refugee and immigrant neighbors and provides an opportunity to stand in solidarity with these communities. The event is family friendly featuring live music, community education booths, activities for kids, and food vendors from around the world.
“Durham Refugee Day is an event that allows the community to meet its new neighbors from around the world who now call Durham home,” said Durham City-County Immigrant and Refugee Affairs Coordinator Nayo. “The 2022 event was amazing! Attendees were exposed to the languages and cultures of their new neighbors through fun activities, music, and food!”
Durham Refugee Day, open to all the public and is free to attend, is the vision and cooperative effort of the following organizations:
