Durham, N.C. – The Durham Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) announced this week that it will return to in-person sessions beginning with their Regular Session scheduled at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 14, 2022.
The Board switched to virtual meetings after declaring a State of Emergency in response to the COVID-19 pandemic on March 23, 2020. This measure was implemented to ensure the safety of citizens who wished to participate in meetings, as well as Board members and Durham County Government staff. The BOCC rescinded the State of Emergency and mask mandate on Monday, March 7, 2022.
Residents who wish to participate in meetings are encouraged to continue using the virtual option due to social distancing guidelines still in place inside the Board Chambers, located in the Durham County Administration Building I, 200 E. Main St. Those wishing to submit citizen comments regarding agenda items should email them to the Clerk to the Board at clerk@dconc.gov by 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 13. All submissions must include the residents’ home address. Citizen comments will be read aloud by the Clerk to the Board’s Office during meetings. Citizens will not be permitted to make comment in person.
Citizens are welcome to attend BOCC meetings. There is no sign-up sheet or request form to attend meetings, however, it is important to note that there are limited seating options. The ability to attend the meeting will be based on first come/first serve. Seating priority will be given to County staff. A low-capacity overflow seating area is in the lobby on the second floor of Administration Building I. Individuals seated in the lobby can view the meeting on screens.*
*Please note that due to renovations still being completed in the Admin I Building, lobby screens may not have the stream of the meeting available at the March 14, 2022 session.
While social distancing will be established with seat arrangements, in person attendees are reminded of the benefits of masking while in indoor spaces populated by others.
Anyone who wishes to view the BOCC sessions can watch live on Durham Television Network (DTN), Spectrum Channel 8. The meetings are also streamed live on the Durham County website and the County’s YouTube channel. Replays of Regular Sessions are available on DTN, along with AT&T U-verse Channel 99, and Frontier Communications Channel 70.

English and Spanish versions of meeting agendas are uploaded here, when available.
