Local Officials Provide COVID-19 Update

Durham, NC - On Tuesday, January 12, 2022, Durham City and County officials gave a COVID-19 update inside the Durham City Hall Plaza’s Council Chambers. Mayor Elaine O’Neal and Commission Chair Brenda Howerton led the news conference. The news conference also included Durham County Department of Public Health Director Rod Jenkins.

 

During the session, leaders asked for all Durham City and County residents to continue helping our community slow the spread of COVID-19, especially with the prevalence of infections due to the Omicron variant of the virus. The best ways to help are to get vaccinated, wear a mask and practice social distancing as much as possible. Mask mandates remain in effect for all of Durham County.

 

New COVID-19 testing sites and the distribution of 60,000 masks from the State of North Carolina and testing kits were also discussed.
