County to Delay Operations on February 19 Due to Forecasted Conditions Expected Overnight

Durham, NC –  Durham County did not experience the worst of the recent Winter Storm bands that swept Central North Carolina last night and this morning. The participation accumulation in our area is forecasted to produced icy conditions overnight. Durham County Government will delay operations by two hours on Friday, February 19, 2021. The delayed opening will provide time for temperatures to rise above freezing and reduce hazardous road conditions in our area. County operations will begin at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow.

Durham County Government residents interested in updates about services impacted by inclement weather conditions should visit the County website, follow the County social media, and check information provided by local media outlets. All citizens are encouraged to sign up for emergency alerts and community notifications from Durham City-County Emergency Management’s Alert Durham at www.alertdurham.com.

Vaccine Distribution by the Durham County Department of Public Health

Due to a county-wide opening delay resulting from inclement weather, the Durham County Department of Public Health COVID-19 vaccination clinic will open at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 19. Individuals with second-dose vaccine appointments scheduled before 11 a.m. will be contacted on the evening of Thursday, February 18, with more information about moving their appointments to a later time on Friday, February 19.

All first-dose appointments scheduled for Thursday, February 18 through Wednesday, February 24, will be contacted Friday, February 19 to reschedule their appointment for a later date.

Durham County Library

All Library Take-Out! pick up locations will re-open beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. To reschedule a Library Take-Out! Appointment that may have been moved due to the weather, contact your library location.

Durham County Sheriff’s Office

Durham County Sheriff’s Office patrol division, as always, is available 24/7. The Sheriff’s business offices and animal services will operate on a two-hour delay on Friday, opening at 10:30 a.m.

Durham County Social Services

Durham County’s Department of Social Services (DSS) will follow the Durham County Government delayed schedule for Friday, February 19.

Durham County Solid Waste and Recycling Programs - County Convenience Sites

The Durham County General Services Department will open its four Solid Waste and Recycling Convenience Sites on a two hour delay on Friday, February 19. Durham County residents with a current 2020-2021 solid waste decal will be able to resume disposal of garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulky items at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow.

 

Durham County Solid Waste and Recycling Programs - Roadside Recycling Collection

Durham County Roadside Recycling Collection scheduled for tomorrow, will operate on its regular schedule. Residents are encouraged download the “Durham County Recycles” mobile application for the most up-to-date information on their collection schedule. Residents can download the mobile app for free on Apple devices in the App Store or Android devices in the Google Play Store.
