SHERIFF INVESTIGATES MCDONALD’S ARMED ROBBERY
Durham, NC, April 19, 2013—Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the armed robbery of an east Durham McDonald’s restaurant that occurred early Friday morning. Deputies responded to the restaurant, located at 1708 S Miami Blvd in Durham, at 12:17 a.m. today after an employee called to report that the restaurant had been robbed by armed men. No one was hurt in the robbery and no arrests have been made.

When deputies arrived at the location this morning, they learned that two men - each armed with a pistol - entered the restaurant through the drive-thru window, corralled all of the employees into a group, and made off with cash from the restaurant’s registers. Deputies used a canine to track the suspects, but the trail quickly disappeared and the suspects were not located.

Sheriff’s investigators plan to obtain surveillance footage from the restaurant and surrounding businesses, and are also re-interviewing victims in an effort to obtain a detailed and accurate description of the suspects.

The dine-in area of the restaurant was closed at the time of the robbery and no customers were present. The drive-thru window was still open for business, however.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Investigator S. Burmahl at 919-560-0880 or Durham CrimeStoppers at 919-683-1200. CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases and callers never have to identify themselves.
