Post Date:03/04/2013 1:00 PM
Durham, NC – Beginning Monday, March 11, 2013, Durham County Solid Waste Convenience Sites will resume their regular operating schedule in coordination with the beginning of Daylight Saving Time. All four convenience sites will close one hour later than their current operating schedule.
The regular hours of operation will be from 7a.m. to 7p.m., Monday through Saturday.
According to Brian S. Haynesworth, Program Manager for the Durham County General Services’ Solid Waste Division, “The safety of citizens and employees was the primary reason for the hour earlier closure of the convenience sites. Several sites are located in wooded areas that get dark quickly during the Winter months. Our division will continue to evaluate the operational days and hours of the convenience sites to ensure they are operating safely and efficiently.”
Sites will resume Winter Hours of 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. in November 2013 when Daylight Saving Time ends.
The County of Durham operates four solid waste and recycling convenience sites within the county. Site locations include:
