County Disposal Sites Remain Closed and Make Up Days for Recycling Planned

Post Date:01/10/2017

Durham, NC – Durham County's four solid waste and recycling convenience sites will remain closed on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 as a result of adverse road conditions associated with Friday's winter storm.

According to the County’s Solid Waste Program Manager Brian Haynesworth, "frigid temperatures and icy road conditions create safety concerns for both convenience site users and the drivers that remove the trash and recycling containers."

On Tuesday, the County plans to reassess reopening its convenience sites for operations as weather and road conditions improve.

Roadside recycling collection scheduled for Tuesday on the B Schedule –South of the Eno River has been cancelled. The recycling collection route cancelled on Monday, January 9 has been rescheduled for Wednesday, January 11 and Tuesday’s cancelled route will take place this Saturday, January 14. Thursday and Friday’s scheduled County recycling routes will take place as scheduled. Residents are encouraged to safely have their carts out no later than 7 a.m. the day of collection to avoid a missed pick up.
