DURHAM, NC (Thursday, September 5, 2024) — Just after 10:00 p.m. Wednesday,a deputy from the Durham County Sheriff’s Office patrol division observed a driver operating a vehicle in a careless and reckless manner on Dearborn Dr in the City of Durham. The deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver refused and instead turned onto Thelma St. At that time they struck a vehicle parked in a driveway and then crashed into the porch of a home. Following the crash, they immediately jumped and ran from the scene.
A responding DCSO K9 team arrived and was able to locate the driver hiding behind a nearby home. The wanted subject,identified as a 15-year-old male, was taken into custody without further incident.A secured custody order was granted and a juvenile petition was completed on charges of Felony Flee/Elude Arrest with a Motor Vehicle, Damage to Personal Property, and Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle.
